Label TextThis scene is one of the many streams that abound in the Catskill region. Thomas Doughty was an early member of the Hudson River School and developed a style of painting that used brownish tones and lack of detail. Doughty's interest in nature and outdoor sports, particularly fishing, is evident in his work. He often used a lone figure as a contrast and point of color in the overall scale of the landscape.
