Label TextThis scene has a remarkable amount of specific detail, such as the variety of architecture shown, the two men rowing a boat, the woman at the dock fetching water in a pail, the man fishing on the shore, the livestock, pets, and tavern sign. In the early 19th century, folk artists recorded rural life in ways that were not documented elsewhere.
