Label TextThis tool chest once belonged to the Beebe family of Albany, New York. A multi-generational family of carpenters, its members appeared in the city directory as early as 1844. Outfitted with several drawers and sliding compartments, the chest contains full sets of chisels and gouges, forty-one molding planes, saws, and a host of other woodworking tools – many from Albany makers. The inclusion of a “T. T. Beebe” stamp, and the presence of this imprint and that of “T. W. Beebe” on some of the tools, suggests that the chest may have belonged to Thomas T. Beebe (abt.1794-1876), his son Thomas W. Beebe (abt.1816-1876), and grandson Thomas T. Beebe (abt.1847-1930).On View
