Label TextSamuel Colman was abroad in the 1860s and 1870s. Between 1871 and 1875 he embarked on an extended tour of Europe and North Africa, visiting Egypt, Morocco and Algeria. This costal scene might depict the Fort de Mers El-Kebir on the Algerian coast, which translates to "The Great Harbor," making the mountains seen in the right-hand portion of the backgorund part of the Foret de Msila.
