Label Text"Rinehart was a noted American expatriate Neoclassical sculputor. He is considered "the last important American sculptor to work in the classical style." Rinehart spent his formative years in Baltimore, traveled to Italy in 1855, and opeend a permanent studio in Rome by 1858. While there he execusted two bas-reliefs in marble, Night and Morning, from which the works seen here derive. These allegorical images use female figures to represent the two times of day. Eveing is covering the earth with her star covered veil of nighttime, while Morning is removing it.
