Lavern Kelley was a dairy farmer, logger, and sawmill-worker from Oneonta, New York who used wood to document the disappearing lifestyle of the 20th-century family farmer of upstate New York. After an appendectomy, Kelley took up carving at the age of 7 and the hobby remained an important part of his life. Throughout his life, he was inspired by what he saw around him - farmyards, vehicles, people, and farm equipment. On View
