Label TextVictor Salvatore, a native of Italy, arrived in America as a child. His Cooperstown sculptures embody traditional American views and ideals, highlighting important aspects of the history of the town. They look back–and forward–at iconic symbols of American identity such as the Sandlot Kid, the quintessential American boy playing the all-American game of baseball. The full-sized version of this sculpture can be found in the Doubleday parking lot in Cooperstown, welcoming baseball fans to Doubleday Field.
