Label TextThese three small drawings illustrate the Sioux’s deftness at attaining war honors against U.S. army soldiers. The first drawing shows three uniformed soldiers challenging a single Sioux warrior. The warrior has succeeded in touching the first officer and possibly knocking the pistol from his hand. The drawing in the center shows a Sioux warrior stealing two horses, likely from the army, and escaping unscathed. The last drawing shows a Sioux warrior touching a seemingly immobilized officer on the head. (also see T0370 and T0372)
