Label TextMen wore kilts such as this at ceremonial dances. The Avanyu, or Plumed Serpent depicted here, is a supernatural being associated with plentiful crops. Its body is a lightning bolt and the multi-colored band symbolizes a rainbow, the perfect union of two lifegiving entities – the sun and the rain.
