Label TextMi'kmaq beadworkers selected the finest red or blue wool stroud because this material provided a rich contrasting background for their intricate beadwork. White beads dominate the largely geometric compositions while smaller details are highlighted in blue, green, and yellow beads. This elaborate beadwork is also found on formal clothing such as chief’s coats, hoods, caps, moccasins, and sashes.
