Label TextKnown artistically and locally as Mary Buckley, her accomplishments in the fields of art, design and education show Buckley to be an extraordinary interpreter of American modernism. In her paintings, Buckley synthesizes understanding with intuition and feeling; references to post-impressionism and cubism permeate her canvases. Themes of her work revolve around the changing landscapes of nature and memories. Buckley’s compositions are a combination of abstract and figural elements woven together seamlessly, enriching the experience of her work. This particular piece is part of series of four, depicting different scenes around a red barn. The barn belongs to Henry Cooper, a Cooperstown native and relative of James Fenimore Cooper.
