Label TextThat there were no standards for the practice of medicine and surgery in Connecticut prior to the establishment of the Connecticut Medical Society in 1792 probably accounts for the fact that there is no record of Thomas Fuller (1765-1837) receiving a medical, or indeed any, degree. Though born in Connecticut, he began his lifelong practice in Cooperstown, New York, in 1791, was charter member of the Otsego County Medical Society in 1806, and served the village as president of the Board of Trustees from 1818-1819.

Dr. Thomas Fuller married Mary Polly Fuller (N03244.63) in 1793. They were the great grandparents of James Fenimore Cooper.
