Label TextRobert J. Havell, Jr. is best remembered as the engraver for John James Audubon's The Birds of America. After the completion of Audubon's project, Havell came to America to sketch views of the Hudson River and other American scenery. Although Havell's paintings were done largely for his own pleasure, some were exhibited at the National Academy of Design and the American Art-Union.
