Label TextVogt’s earliest documented drawing, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sharon Hill, is dated September 19, 1890. Many of Vogt’s early drawings depict houses of worship. Assuming Vogt required assistance upon his arrival in the area, he may have turned to local churches for charity. This drawing could be evidence of his gratitude. Churches were central to community life in the rural areas where Vogt received his initial commissions. Local residents may have been prompted to hire Vogt based on his church drawings.Exhibition History"Drawn Home: Fritz Vogt's Rural America," Mennello Museum of American Folk Art, Orlando, FL, June 1, 2004 - August 31, 2004.
