Label TextVogt’s earliest documented drawing, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sharon Hill, is dated September 19, 1890. Many of Vogt’s early drawings depict houses of worship. Assuming Vogt required assistance upon his arrival in the area, he may have turned to local churches for charity. This drawing could be evidence of his gratitude. Churches were central to community life in the rural areas where Vogt received his initial commissions.
