Label TextThis painting illustrates the twenty-fourth chapter of Genesis in which Abraham's servant gives two golden bracelets to Rebecca after she has drawn water for him and his camels. Pictures based on familiar Bible stories are typical of the work taught in young ladies' drawing classes. The brushwork is a clever imitation of embroidery; watercolor painting being less difficult and time-consuming for the novice than needlework.
