Label TextArt of the Mi'kmaq is usually illustrated by their geometric quillwork on birchbark and the very distinct double curves of their beadwork. (c.f. Whitehead 1987b, E64-E67). This pair of moccasins shows the curvilinear and stylized floral motifs that prevailed in the beadwork of the more western Mi'kmaq in New Brunswick. Much of this beadwork was made as a source of income by the Mi'kmaq and Maliseet women. (From the Catalog of the Thaw Collection of American Indian Art, 2nd ed.)
