Label TextThis man’s shirt sometimes referred to as a big shirt, features the rich colors and bold patterns associated with Seminole clothing. Long patchwork strips are sewn together and the resulting fabric is then cut to make shirts for men and boys or skirts for women and girls. Over time the designs have become more complicated, and today some Seminole people wear this type of colorful clothing on special occasions.Exhibition History"Art Des Indiens D'Amerique Du Nord Dans La Collection D'Eugene Thaw," Mona Bismarck Foundation, Paris, France, Somogy Editions D'Art, January 21, 2000 - March 18, 2000.
