Label TextDeborah Goldsmith was born on August 14, 1808 in Brookfield, New York. As an itinerant artist she traveled from Brookfield to Lebanon, Hartwick, Cooperstown and Hamilton, New York, where she met her husband, George Addison Throop. The two had a long distance courtship through letters until their marriage on December 27, 1832 in Hamilton and had two children together. These two volumes of Goldsmith’s friendship albums were compiled between 1826 and 1830 and include poems she and her friends chose as well as countless sketches, drawings and watercolors drawn by Goldsmith before her marriage.
