Label TextPeter B. Jones pottery is reminiscent of early Haudenosaunee pottery, derived from traditional Haudeosaunee pit firing and built coiling and slab construction. His art often directly reflects the issues that have impacted the Haudenosaunee. On this pot Jones created a map outlining New York State commemorating The Clinton Sullivan campaign of 1779, (check date) a military campaign in retaliation for the loyalty of many Haudenosaunee to the British during the Revolutionary War. The campaing took the form of “MISSION: TOTAL DESTRUCTION AND DEVESTATION” as Native villages were burnt and crops destroyed.ProvenancePurchased from the artist
