Label TextPainted during an interlude in his career between periods of intense creativity, Coffee Break is a contemplative work that mixes memory with everyday life. This seemingly typical chaotic day in New York City features the large central figure of Julius Rosenberg having a cup of coffee, while at the upper right, images of the Mississippi Three (James Earl Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner, murdered by the Ku Klux Klan in 1964) appear out of a fire on the sixth floor of a row house.
