Scees Bryant Possock was the sister-in-law and close associate of the famous basketweaver, Louisa Keyser. Like Keyser, she sold her baskets through the Emporium Company in Carson City, Nevada. This spherical basket is executed in tight rows of fine stitching. Western redbud and bracken fern root were used to form the red-and-black designs on the willow background. The seven vertical motifs are evocative of feathers or ferns.Exhibition History"American Treasures from the Fenimore Art Museum," Society of the Four Arts, Palm Beach, FL, February 20, 2004 - April 11, 2004.
