Pineapples appear in a number of different quilt patterns, sometimes pieced and sometimes appliqued. Label TextThe increasing availability of colorful printed cottons in the early nineteenth century makes it unsurprising that quilting soon became nearly synonymous with patchwork designs in which piecing different fabrics together was the main aesthetic focus. Quilting was still important to hold the layers of the coverlet together, but the stitching often followed the lines of the piecing and took on simpler geometric shapes in open areas.Pineapples appear in a number of different quilt patterns, sometimes pieced and sometimes appliqued.
